The Community for Learning (TCFL) is primarily an English-language school. All core academc subjects are taught in English, while students develop literacy in Spanish through Spanish Language Arts and also study Dominican history and social studies in Spanish.

Yes. TCFL is accredited by New England Association of Schools and Colleges (NEASC) and is approved by the Dominican Ministry of Education. The school is also a member of the Association of Caribbean and Central American Schools (ACCAS).

No. TCFL is a non-denominational school. The school promotes values such as respect, empathy, responsibility, and community.Specific religious beliefs and practices should be guided by each family.

TCFL serves students from Preschool (3 years old) through High School.

Students must be 3 years old by August 31 to enroll in Preschool for the current academic year.

The admissions process typically includes:

1. Visit the school and get to know us
2. Submission of the admissions application through ALMA Start
3. Review of academic records and required documents
4. Student visit/evaluation day at school
5. Family interview when applicable
6. Admissions decision and official acceptance letter

ALMA Start is the online admissions and enrollment platform used by TCFL. Families complete applications, contracts, payment agreements, and upload required documents through this portal.

Yes. TCFL welcomes mid-year applicants whenever space is available and the school determines it is an appropriate fit for the student.

The student spends the day at school participating in classroom activities and interacting with teachers and peers. This visit helps the admissions team evaluate academic readiness, social-emotional adjustment, and overall fit within the TCFL environment.

TCFL values inclusion and works to support diverse learning profiles whenever possible. Accommodations and support depend on each student’s individual needs and the school’s ability to appropriately serve them within the classroom setting. Yes. The Community for Learning (TCFL) supports students who are developing English proficiency through classroom support and language immersion, depending on the student’s age and academic background. However, students are generally expected to demonstrate strong English proficiency by Grade 3, as core academic instruction is conducted in English.

Absolutely. TCFL frequently welcomes international and relocating families, including families connected to embassies and international organizations. The admissions team works closely with families transitioning to the Dominican Republic.

TCFL values community and meaningful relationships, maintaining class sizes that allow teachers to truly know and support each student. Max class size is 20 students per class, with 2 teachers up to 2nd grade.

No. TCFL believes education should support the whole child — academically, socially, and emotionally. Inquiry, collaboration, socio-emotional development, and real-world learning are central to the school’s philosophy.

The Community for Learning (TCFL) offers a variety of specialty classes and activities during the school day, including Physical Education, Swimming, Music, Art, Dance, and Gardening/Sustainability.  These experiences are designed to support students’ physical, creative, social, and emotional development alongside academics.

TCFL highly values family involvement and partnership. Families are encouraged to actively participate in school events, celebrations, learning experiences, and community-building initiatives throughout the year. The school also has a Parent Support Group (PSG), where parents have the opportunity to volunteer, collaborate, and contribute meaningfully to the school community.

Yes. The Community for Learning (TCFL) offers afterschool activities and programs that may vary by grade level and school year. These can include sports, arts, chess, and other extracurricular experiences designed to extend learning and community engagement beyond the regular school day. Classes begin at 3:00 pm Monday through Thursday and at 12:30 pm on Fridays.  Families receive information about available offerings, pricing and schedules in August.
